Chair, Jared C. Bynum
Jared is a passionate LGBTQ advocate and Democratic Party leader based in Denver, Colorado. With nearly a decade of experience in community organizing, policy advocacy, and legislative work, Jared has built a career focused on uplifting underrepresented voices and advancing progressive change. He began his activism in high school, organizing students around environmental and social justice issues, and continues that work today as an environmental policy advocate and consultant, and student of Sustainability and Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Colorado Denver.
Jared’s formal involvement with the Democratic Party began in 2019, while serving as a Legislative Aide to Representative Leslie Herod, the first queer Black woman elected to the Colorado General Assembly, where he supported policies focused on LGBTQ rights, women’s health, and criminal justice reform. Since then, he has served as Assistant Secretary, Second Vice Chair, and now Chair of Community Outreach and Engagement for the Denver Democrats, and is currently serving his second term as Chair of the Stonewall Democrats of Colorado.
Beyond politics, Jared is an avid hiker and amateur nature photographer, and he enjoys exploring Colorado’s parks and trails, discovering new coffee spots, and hanging out with his cat.
Vice Chair, Beckie Bean
Beckie is a proud, life-long Democrat, saying “I look forward to helping the party continue to make our community a better place through advancing equal rights, environmental stewardship, and community engagement.” She is the Chair of the Adams County Democrats in addition to being the Vice Chair of the Stonewall Democrats of Colorado. She has also volunteered in her local community and the LGBTQ+ community with civil rights, social action, and civic engagement related organizations for many years.
In addition to equity advocacy through volunteering, Beckie works as an IT Accessibility Consultant. She helps public sector organizations ensure equal IT access for people with disabilities. In her spare time, Beckie enjoys gardening and spending time with her wife, Susie, and their beloved dog and cat.
Treasurer, Mark Thompson
Mark has been a queer rights activist since the early 1980s, when he helped form UFLAGS, the University of Florida Lesbian and Gay Society. He also helped form the union at USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service, AFSCME Local 3976. While there, he served as vice president and led the contract negotiating team which successfully negotiated better childcare benefits. He was also his employer’s LGBT Program Manager.
Mark got involved with Colorado Democratic Party affairs in the 2016 election cycle, where he successfully ran as a delegate for Bernie Sanders at the state convention. He got elected as Treasurer of Stonewall Democrats of Colorado in 2025. Mark is also a member of Colorado Frontrunners and Outspokin, queer running and bicycling clubs respectively.
For fun, Mark enjoys bicycling and travel, and now combines the two with bike trips in Colorado, the United States, and abroad.
Assistant Secretary, Jarrod Munger
As Jarrod begins his second term as Assistant Secretary, his unwavering commitment to equality, inclusion, and progressive values continues to guide his work. A proud member of the Democratic Party, Jarrod has been a steadfast advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and a dedicated member and leader within the Stonewall Democrats of Colorado.
Jarrod’s leadership within the Stonewall Democrats of Colorado is particularly noteworthy. Serving as Chair for two terms, he worked to amplify LGBTQ+ voices, strengthen community engagement, and advance policies that promote equity and justice. His tenure as Chair laid the foundation for lasting partnerships and impactful advocacy efforts that continue across the state.
Beyond his work with the Stonewall Democrats, Jarrod has a rich history of grassroots activism. From his early involvement with the House District 8 Democrats and as the Secretary then Vice Chair of the Democratic Party of Denver to his Chairmanship for the past 3 years of the Morgan County Democratic Party to being the 1st Vice Chair of the CD4 Democrats, Assistant Secretary and Vice Chair of Party Operations with the Colorado Democratic Party, Jarrod has consistently championed policies that uplift marginalized communities and promote social justice.
His vision aligns with the Stonewall Democrats’ mission to create a more equitable and inclusive society for all.
